| Akin Estates is located in the Lodi AVA. The winery released their first wine, the 2002 Zinfandel from Maley Vineyard in Lodi. The Maley Family has been farming grapes in the region for many years. The grapes used for this wine were from 50 year old vines. David Akin is the winemaker and owner of the winery. He has been employed in the Lodi wine industry since 1978, when he went to work for Barengo Vineyards as their winemaker and manager. After his time with Barengo, Akin worked as a winemaking consultant for several years, traveling all over the state. In 2002, along with wife Brenda, David founded Akin Estates and began his own venture. He blends traditional techniques with more innovative ones to make his wine. | |||||||
